Charlie’s Chuck Wagon was established in 2016 as a path towards retirement for owners Charlie and MaryAnn Cornacchio. Charlie is currently the Founder and Executive Producer of HVNN.com and MaryAnn has worked at Community Animal Hospital for the past 19 years.
“We were looking for something we could enjoy and do together”, said Charlie.
“After doing some research, I came up with the idea of operating a hot dog business”.
Charlie’s idea was not initially received with the warmth he was hoping for.
“I flat out said ‘No Way!'”, recalls Maryann.
“No one in the family took him seriously and I just couldn’t see this man selling hot dogs on a street corner when he has two Emmy nominations and several awards for the videos he’s produced over the years.”
But after more research and coaxing by Charlie, MaryAnn agreed and the Chuck Wagon was born!
WHERE YOU CAN FIND US
You’ll spot the Chuck Wagon on the Walkway Over The Hudson and local business Grand Openings, among other places throughout the Hudson Valley. During the summer, Charlie’s Chuck Wagon will also be at the Town of Wappinger Concerts in Schlathaus Park on Thursday nights.
Charlie’s Chuck Wagon offers Sabrett Hot Dogs, Sausage, onions, sauerkraut chili and cheese, and other variations of toppings and combinations. The cart also offers soda and chips.
A big favorite is the Charlie Dog with sauerkraut and spicy mustard.
“We offer the standard fare of condiments, including yellow mustard, relish and even ketchup”, said MaryAnn.
“We like to keep it tasty, but simple”.
On a typical day, MaryAnn serves up the dogs and Charlie makes the change. Their golden retriever, Brody, also accompanies them on days where the weather is not too hot.
“Brody is a big part of our lives and a big part of the Chuck Wagon”, said Charlie.
“People love to come up and pet him, and he loves the attention and the left overs at the end of the day!”
If the weather is right, you might even get to hear a song or two on Charlie’s hands free propped up acoustic guitar; set up for Charlie and any other welcome musicians who feel like jamming.
“It’s like a Pop Up Open Mic situation with the guitar already propped and ready to go”, said Charlie.
“You just walk behind it and wrap your hands around the front, and start to play”.
“I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about all this”, remarked MaryAnn.
“But I have to tell you, it’s so much fun feeding people and meeting so many interesting Walkway visitors.”

Commonly, people from other countries, counties, and cities visit the Walkway and stop to get a hot dog from Charlie’s Chuck Wagon. A couple of national celebrities have also stopped by for a Charlie Dog.
